* Thanks to everyone who participated! Chosen entries will be notified by Oct. 11 and will then feature solo starting October 19. For all entries, there will be three drawings held on November 1 to win a signed copy of my book, Grave Echoes: A Kate Waters Mystery.

Cheers! Let the horror begin…

13 DAYS OF HORROR is back!

Starting October 19 through October 31, Listen to the Voices will bring 13 terrifying tales of macabre horror to your doorstep. If your mind is full of haunts, flesh them out and submit to:
— 13daysofhorror@gmail.com
— Subject line: 13 Days Submission – Title – Your Name
— Please paste your story in the body of the email
— No cover letter necessary, but I don’t mind a brief hello
— Please no multiple submissions
— All submissions should have: 100 to 1,000 words and a main element of horror (subgenres and poetry welcome)

I like violence, gore, language, and sex, as long as it is tasteful—subtleties are scary too. Though I’d prefer unpublished work, I am practical, and dustin’ off an old goody works just as well.

Deadline is October 1st. All who make the final list will be notified by October 11. There will be no payment, but a drawing will be held for all entries, in which three random winners will receive a “signed” prize by me.

Also, this year, Listen to the Voices is teaming up with Barry J. Northern’s fantastic podcast blog, Cast Macabre! Starting Oct. 29th, a lucky, few selected stories will be read and featured on Cast Macabre, and get this, there will be payment involved. So spill some ink, and submit to, 13daysofhorror@gmail.com

Check out some of last year’s great entries to 13 Days of Horror if you haven’t already:

Jeffrey S. Callico,

  1. Sounds like a fun 13 days — if you're into the spirit of Halloween and what creative soul isn't?I strolled here from Alan W. Davidson's blog. I'm eager to read the 13 you choose. I've already entered. Sort of like an early "Trick Or Treat."Wishing you relief for your soon-to-be-punished eyes, Roland

  2. Yes! Funny, I was just thinking about this a few days ago and I hoped you would be doing it again. I'll see if I can come up with something worthy enough.

  3. You had some awesome people on the previous edition. Can't wait to see what's coming! :) Ah, yes, there's a fabulous award waiting for you at Randomities. ;)http://bit.ly/plethora_award

  4. Intriguing ;) I've never written anything in the horror genre but if I can think of some ideas I'll definitely give it go, just for the experience!
