I originally wrote Life in the Way for Flash Fiction Chronicles String-of-ten FOUR Contest. The rules were to write a flash in 250 words, to include at least four of the words below.
Jar, Moss, Gravity, Edge, Cast, Stand, Organ, Tire, Bitter, Wage
I managed six, and though I didn’t win in the contest, I did get another story published with a great eZine: Apollo’s Lyre.
Thanks Jim!
I loved the little details that made the narrator real: “I struggled to want my own family.” Powerful stuff, and a great ending, centred around a stunning image.

“A tiny devil lived inside her, and she didn’t have to say so” — a haunting piece with images I won’t soon forget. You sure packed a lot into 250 words!
